About Kokikai Aikido
Kokikai Aikido is a martial art, concerned with effective
self-defense technique and realization of our full potential power in all
the activities of daily life. Even as we develop powerful Kokikai technique
we strive to increase the strength of both body and mind, discover Kokikai
Ki Power through mind-body coordination, and stimulate good health. In this
way we create a secure foundation for a strong and successful life. We discover
our whole human ability, our full potential power, through self-mastery.
The most correct state for human beings is that which is their strongest
state; when a person is strongest, we can say they are most correct. The
impact upon the performance of Kokikai technique when we are correct is obvious:
our reflexes are quickest, we have the calmness of mind necessary to avoid
being upset by sudden challenges, and we can clearly perceive our attacker's
intentions. When we are correct we can also perform better in other activities
as well. Our success in sports competition is enhanced, we enjoy improved
health, and we can look forward to greater success in business and our personal
lives. But most obviously, because it is our training method, we immediately
see the results of being correct in our Kokikai Aikido technique. Ki Power
gushes out, and our self-defense movements become highly effective.
When we contrast the correct state of being with its opposite, we can experience
the same action in the same situation and observe that the results are very
different. We conclude that when we are not correct we cannot use our whole
ability. Just as in baseball, when the batter experiences his or her correct
state of being the result is a home run. When incorrect, a more likely result
is something less. We understand that our correct state of being is much
better for us, more useful and leads to good result. But it is difficult
to dependably catch this feeling. Some people don't recognize the existence
of a correct human state. They may think that the incorrect way is correct,
and for lack of experience they may think that the incorrect way is the only
possibility. these people have never experienced their awakened stated of
being. Perhaps they've never met an awakened person. After careful consideration
on what constitutes the correct state for human beings, Sensei Maruyama offers
the Kokikai Basic Principles as the cornerstone of Kokikai Aikido Training.
In ancient times life and death struggles provided the medium of challenge
that gave rise to deep understanding of the existence and desirability of
awakened states. Our modern age is more peaceful, and when we come into conflict
it's more often at a distance. We fight through computers, for example. It's
rare today to find a challenge of sufficient severity to push us to a deep
level of understanding. People think they try their best, but if they are
stiff, or upset or have a negative mind, they are not correct and cannot
realize their whole human ability. To help people develop their correct state,
Sensei Maruyama has created the Kokikai Training
Method consisting
of logical technique and a three-part Examination System. Sincere study using
these tools will
lead to the deepest understanding of human potential.
During self-defense movement, or sports, or business, many people believe
they fight with all the benefits of oneness simply because they are individuals.
But when we examine their performance according to the Kokikai Basic Principles,
we judge they are not realizing their full potential. If mind and body are
not unified, oneness is not possible. For example, some children in school
appear to be listening attentively to the teacher but they actually hear
nothing. Their eyes do one thing and their bodies another. Of course these
students perform poorly. During a fight most people experience fear. Blood
rises to their brains, their hearts pound, and they have no calmness. In
such an incorrect state of being they cannot use their whole ability. Similarly,
some people perform well in sports practice, but when competition begins
in earnest, they fall apart. The reason is the same; for one reason or another
these persons haven't been able to realize their strongest state of being.
The result is they cannot harness their whole potential.
The Kokikai School of Aikido features a logical training system with concrete
goals of effective self-defense and the development of each individual's
full potential power through the realization of the correct state of being.
That full potential power is made a dependable state through rigorous training
in the Kokikai Training Method, using Ki testing and specific resistance
to technique to lead the practitioner to deep self-discovery. The resulting
correct state is then applied to self-defense movement, and every activity
in daily life, for the betterment of ourselves, our society, and the whole
world. Please join us in realizing your full potential through Kokikai Aikido
Training.
